Vaude have paired their extensive knowledge of materials and product design with a range of women mountain athletes to create dedicated 'Women Specific' clothing and equipment throught their range.

Women's Backpacks

"Pink it and shrink it" wasn‘t enough for us for the Vaude women's backpack line!

Our women designers have brought all of their expertise together with experienced mountain sportswomen to develop products specifically tailored to the needs of women. So we haven't just changed the colors and shapes of our packs, we‘ve also developed products for the female frame. The new Collection is full of innovative detail solutions such as wide, softly padded hipbelts shaped specifically for a woman's hip shape and s-shaped shoulder straps that are more comfortable for women.

Perfect anatomical fit

Our concept for women‘s backpacks is based on sizeGERMANY findings. SizeGERMANY is the first serial measurement project in Germany using state-of-the-art body scanning technology to measure a representative sample of the entire population. For our backpack design we took advantage of the following findings:

1. The shorter torso and back length of women requires a somewhat shorter pack back length then in men‘s models.
2. Women's narrower backs requires a narrower backpack as well.
3. S-shaped shoulder straps: This shape allows the shoulder straps to lie flat against women‘s shoulders and contour the female frame. The softly padded edges are comfortable, especially when wearing a sleeveless top.
4. Hipbelt: the wide, softly padded hipbelt is specifically contoured for the female frame, ensuring optimal weight distribution. Women‘s hipbelts are somewhat longer then the men‘s version, soft velour padding ensures that the belt is comfortable on the hips.

Women's Sleeping Bags

Women have different thermal regulation than men. They tend to lose more, as they have less muscle mass. This is why we have equipped our Ice Wall and Snowcloud sleeping bags with special features that improve heat retention within the bag and create wonderfully warm sleeping conditions.

An extra soft lining is a key factor in providing superior sleeping and lying comfort. The thermal collar is also lined with a comfy fleece fabric that nestles up around the neck to keep the warmth inside. An additional microfleece layer has also been added to the kidney region and the specially constructed footsack to ensure that in areas where women typically lose more heat, insulation is enhanced
